What is the Shitzu Squalo?
The Shitzu Squalo is a sporty cabin cruiser, a boat with a small covered cabin at the front and an open deck at the back. Rockstar Games has officially revealed a special Squalo for GTA 6: open-ocean-ready, perfect for casting in Gambit Bay, and docked at Washington Beach.
The Squalo is a returning favourite from earlier GTA games, and its appearance in GTA 6 fits a setting where the sea is never far away.
How to get the Shitzu Squalo in GTA 6
The special Squalo is one of the exclusive vehicles in the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition. Rockstar's product description mentions a pink and blue Squalo that comes with an explosives-laden weapons crate, and Rockstar says it is docked at Washington Beach.
Rockstar has said that Ultimate Edition content is threaded through Jason and Lucia's story. When exactly the Squalo becomes available has not been revealed.
Whether regular Squalos appear in the Standard Edition, for example in harbours or on the water, is not known yet.
What the official images show
Rockstar's images of the Squalo include:
- A side view of the boat on the water, with the Squalo name on the hull and the Shitzu logo on the tower.
- Jason and Lucia on the deck, with dolphins swimming nearby.
- A top-down shot of a Squalo moving through the water with a police boat close by and a police helicopter overhead.
That last image hints that the Squalo will not only be used for fishing trips.
Fishing and the open ocean
Rockstar specifically describes the Squalo as perfect for casting in Gambit Bay and reeling in catches of all sorts. That suggests fishing is part of GTA 6, at least in some form, although Rockstar has not detailed how it works. Other official descriptions of Leonida also mention fishing, for example in Mount Kalaga National Park.
The boat is also described as open-ocean-ready, which fits the coastline of Vice City and the island chain of the Leonida Keys.
The Squalo in earlier GTA games
The Squalo has a long history in the series. According to the GTA Wiki and GTABase, it appeared as a cabin cruiser in GTA IV and its expansions, where it was made by Grotti, and again in GTA V and GTA Online, where it carried the Shitzu badge.
Shitzu is the GTA world's maker of boats and watercraft, so the GTA 6 Squalo continues that tradition.
What we do not know yet
Rockstar has not published:
- Top speed, durability or price.
- What the explosives-laden weapons crate contains or how it is used.
- How fishing works and what can be caught.
The stats table on this page shows "Unknown" for every value. We will add numbers once they can be verified.
Tips for boat trips
These tips are based on how boats have worked in earlier GTA games, not on confirmed GTA 6 mechanics:
- Mind the waves. Open water can be rough, especially at speed.
- Use boats to escape. In earlier games, heading out to sea was a classic way to lose pursuers, although Rockstar's own image shows police boats and helicopters can follow.
- Explore the coast. A boat gives you a view of Vice City and the Keys that you cannot get from the road.
