What is the Vapid Ganado?
The Vapid Ganado is Jason's own pickup in GTA 6. Rockstar Games has officially named it and describes it as Jason's well-worn, low-riding Vapid Ganado. It is a car-based pickup with a long hood and an open bed, the kind of practical, slightly battered vehicle that suits a character who, in Rockstar's words, wants an easy life while things keep getting harder.
The Ganado has appeared in official GTA 6 screenshots as Jason's personal vehicle, which makes it one of the cars players are most likely to spend time with.
The Ganado Retro Build (Ultimate Edition)
The GTA 6 Ultimate Edition includes a special version called the Ganado Retro Build. Rockstar's product description invites players to inject muscle and classic stylings into Jason's Ganado with exclusive mods.
Rockstar's official image shows Jason driving the Ganado with a bright yellow paint job and a red racing stripe. It is a striking upgrade compared with a weathered everyday pickup, and it gives Jason's car a look that fits the retro theme of the other Ultimate Edition vehicles.
Rockstar has said that Ultimate Edition content is threaded through Jason and Lucia's story. The Retro Build may therefore become available as the story progresses rather than at the very start. The exact unlock moment has not been revealed.
Standard Edition players
Because the Ganado is Jason's personal vehicle, it is reasonable to expect that every player will drive a version of it, whichever edition they own. The Retro Build with its exclusive mods is the part that is tied to the Ultimate Edition. Rockstar has not detailed what the standard Ganado looks like in full or how it can be modified without the Ultimate Edition, so we will update this page once that is clear.
What the official images show
Rockstar's images of the Ganado show:
- The Retro Build in yellow with a red stripe, driven by Jason.
- Jason's safehouse, where the Ganado is parked alongside the Dinka Enduro motorcycle and the Crest Kayak, two other Ultimate Edition vehicles.
The safehouse image suggests that these vehicles are part of Jason's everyday life, ready to use whenever he steps outside.
Real-world inspiration
Rockstar does not name the real cars that inspire its vehicles. Fan sources such as the GTA Wiki compare the Ganado to classic American coupé-utility pickups such as the Ford Ranchero, a car-based pickup design that was popular in the late 1960s and 1970s. Those comparisons are based on the vehicle's shape, not on any official statement.
Vapid in GTA
Vapid is one of the most familiar manufacturers in the GTA series, the game world's take on a big American car brand. Vapid models have included muscle cars, sedans, pickups and vans across earlier games. In GTA 6, Rockstar has already officially named three Vapid vehicles: the Ganado, the '67 Dominator Buggy and the '55 Stanier.
What we do not know yet
Rockstar has not published:
- Top speed, acceleration, durability or price.
- The full list of mods in the Retro Build.
- How far the regular Ganado can be customised.
The stats table shows "Unknown" for every value until reliable numbers are available. We never guess vehicle stats.
Why Jason's car matters
In GTA games, the protagonist's personal vehicle often becomes a familiar companion. It is the car you return to after missions, the one you customise and the one that appears in story scenes. Giving Jason a distinctive pickup, and offering a special version of it in the Ultimate Edition, shows that Rockstar sees the Ganado as part of his identity.
Tips for when you drive it
These tips are based on how pickups have handled in earlier GTA games, not on confirmed GTA 6 mechanics:
- Expect weight. Pickups are usually heavier than sports cars, which helps in collisions but slows down acceleration.
- Brake early. A long, heavy vehicle needs more room to stop.
- Make it yours. As Jason's personal car, it is the obvious candidate for customisation once the options are known.
