Who is Raul Bautista?
Raul Bautista is one of the eight characters Rockstar Games has officially introduced for Grand Theft Auto VI. He is a seasoned bank robber, and Rockstar's description makes him sound like a true professional: someone who treats heists as works of art.
Of all the characters revealed so far, Raul is one of the most mysterious. He does not obviously belong to Jason's world in the Keys or to the Vice City music scene, which makes his role in the story an open question.
What Rockstar has revealed
A bank robber
Raul specialises in bank robberies. According to Rockstar, he has pulled off numerous high-risk robberies over the years.
Heists as art
Rockstar describes Raul as a man who turns bank heists into works of art. That suggests careful planning, style and a certain pride in doing things well.
Manipulative charm
Raul's charm is one of his biggest tools. Rockstar calls it manipulative, and says it has proved invaluable over the years. He knows how to get people to do what he wants.
Heists in Grand Theft Auto
Heists have become one of the most popular parts of the GTA series. GTA V built several of its biggest story moments around planning and carrying out robberies, and GTA Online later added heists for groups of players. A character introduced specifically as an expert bank robber fits that tradition well.
Whether GTA 6 will feature heists in a similar way has not been confirmed in detail, but Raul's presence makes the theme hard to ignore.
What role could Raul play?
Rockstar has not revealed how Raul's path crosses with Jason and Lucia's. An experienced robber with a talent for persuasion could be a mentor, a partner or a dangerous influence. All of those are possibilities, but none have been confirmed, and we will only update this guide with official information.
A different kind of criminal
Many of GTA 6's characters are tied to drugs, nightlife or the street. Raul stands out as a more polished type of criminal: someone for whom crime is a craft. That contrast could make for interesting moments with the more improvised style of Jason and Lucia, who, according to Rockstar, find themselves in trouble when an easy score goes wrong.
