Who is Brian Heder?
Brian Heder is one of the eight characters Rockstar Games has officially introduced for Grand Theft Auto VI. He is a long-time drug runner in the Leonida Keys, and he plays an important part in Jason Duval's life: he is Jason's landlord, and the drug runner Jason works for.
Rockstar describes him as a member of the old guard, someone who has been in the business for a long time and has learned to keep a low profile.
What Rockstar has revealed
Old guard
Brian belongs to the older generation of drug runners in the Keys. He is still a key player in the business, but a subtle one.
A boat yard
According to Rockstar, Brian is said to use his boat yard to move illegal cargo. In an island chain connected by water and long bridges, boats are an obvious way to move goods out of sight.
Quiet criminality
Brian is on his third wife and nearing retirement age. Rockstar's description suggests he has perfected the art of staying under the radar: criminal, but quietly so.
His connections
- Jason Duval: Brian is Jason's landlord, and Jason works for him.
- Cal Hampton: Cal is an associate of Brian and a friend of Jason.
Together with Jason and Cal, Brian forms the Leonida Keys side of GTA 6's cast.
The Leonida Keys
Brian's home turf is the Leonida Keys, a tropical island chain in the south of Leonida inspired by the Florida Keys. It is a region of long bridges, boats and beaches. Our guide to the Leonida Keys explains more about the area.
What role could Brian play?
As Jason's landlord and employer, Brian is likely to be part of Jason's daily life in the story. Beyond that, Rockstar has not revealed his role. Older, established criminals in GTA games have often been sources of work, advice or conflict for the protagonists, but we will only describe Brian's role here once it is confirmed.
Why Brian is interesting
Brian is a contrast to the flashier characters in Vice City. Where Boobie Ike built a visible empire in nightlife and music, Brian prefers to stay out of sight. That gives GTA 6 two very different pictures of crime in Leonida: the loud city and the quiet coast.
Where did Brian appear?
Brian was introduced with the expanded character profiles on the official GTA 6 website around the release of the second trailer in May 2025.
