What is Mount Kalaga National Park?

Mount Kalaga National Park is a forested wilderness region in the north of Leonida, the state in which Grand Theft Auto VI is set. It is one of the six regions Rockstar Games has officially introduced.

Where most of Leonida is defined by coast, city and wetlands, Mount Kalaga offers something different: forests, rivers, hills and trails, far from the noise of Vice City.

What to expect

Forest

The park is described as a forested area, giving GTA 6 a landscape that feels very different from the palm-lined streets of the south.

Rivers and hills

Rivers and hills shape the terrain, which promises more varied ground than the flat coastal areas.

Trails

Trails run through the park, suggesting a place made for exploring on foot or off-road.

Outdoor activities

Descriptions of the region mention activities such as hunting, fishing, kayaking and off-road exploration. Exactly how these work in the game has not been detailed yet.

Rockstar and the great outdoors

Rockstar has a track record of creating impressive natural landscapes. Its Western games are known for their wilderness, and GTA V included mountains and forests outside the city. A national park in GTA 6 continues that tradition and gives players a reason to leave the city behind.

A break from the city

Open-world games benefit from variety. After chases through Vice City and trips across the Keys, a quiet forest can be a welcome change of pace. Places like Mount Kalaga are also where players often find their own adventures: a scenic drive, a hike to a viewpoint or simply getting lost for a while.

What could happen there?

Rockstar has not revealed which characters or missions are connected to the park. Remote wilderness areas in GTA games have been used for everything from hideouts to hunting trips, but we will only describe confirmed details here.

Is there a real mountain?

The real state of Florida is famously flat, with no real mountains. Mount Kalaga is a fictional addition, giving Leonida terrain that the real state does not have. That is typical for GTA, which uses real places as inspiration without copying them exactly.

What we do not know yet

  • How large the park is.
  • Which wildlife lives there.
  • Which activities are available and how they work.
