GTA 6 Explosive Ammo Cheat

What an explosive ammo cheat does
An explosive ammo cheat turns every bullet into a small explosion. Instead of a normal impact, each shot bursts on contact, sending cars flying and scattering anything nearby. It is one of the most destructive cheats a Grand Theft Auto game has offered, and one of the most entertaining to watch.
It changes the weapons you already have rather than giving you new ones. A simple pistol suddenly behaves like a heavy weapon, which completely changes how fights play out.
How it worked in GTA V
In Grand Theft Auto V, PC players typed HIGHEX into the cheat input box. From then on, all weapons fired explosive rounds. Console players used a button combination, and on every platform the cheat could also be triggered with a number on the in-game phone.
It was a favourite for players who wanted pure chaos. A few shots at a busy road could set off a chain reaction of explosions that would normally take a rocket launcher to achieve.
What we know about cheats in GTA 6
At the moment there is no official information about cheat codes in GTA 6. Rockstar Games has confirmed that the game launches on Thursday 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but it has not said whether an explosive ammo cheat, or any cheat, will be included.
The table at the top of this page shows "not yet known" for every platform. We do not publish guessed codes. As soon as Rockstar Games releases them, we will add the right one here.
Why explosive ammo is so popular
Instant spectacle
Few things in a GTA game look as dramatic as a street full of explosions. Explosive ammo creates that with any weapon, at any moment.
Every weapon becomes powerful
Weak weapons suddenly become a serious threat. That makes it fun to revisit guns you would normally ignore.
Testing the physics
GTA games simulate how vehicles and objects react to force. Explosive rounds are a quick way to see just how far that simulation goes.
Be careful with your surroundings
Explosions do not care who is standing nearby, and that includes you. Firing explosive rounds at something close by can easily hurt your own character. In GTA V many players combined this cheat with invincibility or a health and armor refill to survive their own chaos.
It also tends to draw a lot of police attention very quickly. If you want to keep things under control, a lower wanted level cheat is a useful companion.
Things to keep in mind
Achievements and trophies
In GTA V using any cheat disabled achievements and trophies for the rest of the session. Restarting the game or loading your save turned them back on. Save first if you are working on achievements.
Story mode only
GTA V cheats could not be used in GTA Online. Explosive bullets in a shared world would ruin the game for everyone else. If GTA 6 has an online mode, we expect cheats to stay in single-player again, but this has not been confirmed.
It can make missions messy
Explosions can destroy vehicles or objects a mission depends on. Using explosive ammo during a mission can therefore cause it to fail in unexpected ways.
Combining it with other cheats
Explosive ammo works especially well together with a weapons cheat, so you have plenty of guns to try it with, and with slow motion, which lets you watch every explosion in detail. If GTA 6 offers similar cheats, we will explain how they combine on each page.
