Can you pre-order GTA 6?

Yes. Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI opened on 25 June 2026. You can pre-order the game for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S ahead of its release on Thursday 19 November 2026.

Pre-ordering means you pay for the game, or reserve it, before it comes out. In return you are sure to have it on launch day, and in the case of GTA 6 you also get a small bonus.

Which editions can you pre-order?

There are two editions of GTA 6:

  • Standard Edition. The base game. In the United States it is priced at $79.99. Prices in other regions depend on local currency and taxes.
  • Ultimate Edition. The base game plus an exclusive collection of extra in-game items. Our guide to the editions explains the difference in more detail.

Rockstar also announced a physical collector's item called the Vice City Collection, which is separate from the game editions. We cover it in its own guide.

The pre-order bonus

Pre-orders include the Vintage Vice City Pack, a set of retro-themed in-game items. The bonus is available with both the Standard and the Ultimate Edition, so you do not need to buy the more expensive edition to get it. See our separate guide for what is known about the pack.

Where to pre-order

The safest places to pre-order a game are the official digital stores of your console and well-known retailers:

  • PlayStation Store for the PS5 version.
  • Microsoft Store for the Xbox Series X|S version.
  • Established retailers in your country, both online and in shops.

Be wary of unknown websites offering GTA 6 at a price that seems too good to be true, or keys from unofficial resellers. If something looks suspicious, it is better to buy from an official store.

Should you pre-order?

Reasons to pre-order

You get the pre-order bonus, you can often pre-download a digital copy so it is ready to play the moment it unlocks, and you do not have to worry about stock problems with physical copies.

Reasons to wait

Waiting lets you read reviews and see how the game runs on your console before you spend money. Games are rarely sold out digitally, so you can still buy on launch day without a pre-order.

There is no wrong answer. If you are certain you will buy GTA 6, pre-ordering is convenient. If you are unsure, waiting costs you little more than the bonus items.

Digital or physical?

A digital copy is tied to your console account and can usually be downloaded before launch. A physical copy can be lent, traded or resold, but depends on availability in shops. For a game this large, check what a physical version actually contains: some modern boxed releases rely heavily on downloads.
