GTA 6 has not been released yet. This article is based on what Rockstar Games has revealed so far and will be updated when the game launches.
How Many Playable Characters Are in GTA 6?
Short answer
Two. You play as Jason and Lucia, and you can switch between them, as Rockstar Games has shown in its official GTA 6 footage.
Jason and Lucia
GTA 6 has two playable main characters:
- Lucia, who was released from Leonida Penitentiary after fighting to defend her family.
- Jason, a former soldier who worked for drug runners in the Leonida Keys.
Rockstar Games describes the story as an easy score gone wrong that pulls the two of them into a criminal conspiracy across Leonida. Read more in our article about the GTA 6 characters.
Switching between them
Rockstar's official footage showed that you can switch between Jason and Lucia. In free roam they can split up or stay together. GTA V had three playable characters, Michael, Franklin and Trevor, and a character wheel to switch between them. See switching characters in GTA 6.
Other characters
Rockstar has introduced several other characters, such as Cal, Boobie and Raul. There is no sign that you can play as them.
