What is GTA 6: An Extended Look?

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look is a long gameplay presentation that Rockstar Games released on 27 August 2026. It premiered on Netflix and was published on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official GTA 6 website a few hours later. At around 26 minutes, it is by far the longest look at the game that Rockstar has shared.

Unlike the trailers, which were edited like film trailers, the extended look focused on showing how the game plays. Rockstar said the footage was captured in-game on PlayStation 5.

Why Netflix?

Premiering a game presentation on a streaming service was an unusual move. It turned the reveal into an event that reached people beyond the usual gaming audience. The Netflix exclusivity only lasted a few hours, after which the video became freely available on YouTube.

What the presentation showed

Driving

Cars are central to every GTA game, and the extended look spent plenty of time on the road, from city streets to longer drives across Leonida.

Combat

The footage included gunfights, giving players their first proper look at how shooting works in GTA 6.

A police chase

A chase with the police showed how the game handles one of the series' most familiar situations.

Switching between Jason and Lucia

The presentation included moments where control passes between the two protagonists. That confirms that both are playable characters, not just one lead with a sidekick.

Everyday life in Leonida

Not everything was action. The video also showed quieter moments: Jason and Lucia's home, shops, nightlife and the airport. Those scenes give an idea of how much of daily life Rockstar has built into the world.

Conversations

Dialogue between characters played a big part, underlining that the story and the relationship between the leads are at the heart of the game.

What it means for the game

The extended look answered a question many players had after the trailers: what does GTA 6 actually feel like to play? It showed familiar GTA elements, such as driving, shooting and police chases, in a much more detailed world. It also showed that the two-protagonist structure is a real part of the gameplay.

Plenty of details remain open, such as the full range of activities, how online play will work and how big the map really is. We only report what was shown or officially stated, and we will update our guides as Rockstar shares more.

Where to watch

The extended look is available on Rockstar Games' official YouTube channel and on the official GTA 6 website.
