What a drunk mode cheat does

A drunk mode cheat makes your character behave as if they have had far too much to drink. Walking becomes wobbly, the camera sways and blurs, and simple tasks suddenly take real concentration. It is one of the silliest cheats a Grand Theft Auto game has offered, and it exists purely for entertainment.

There is no advantage to using it. In fact, it makes everything harder. That is exactly why players enjoy it: it turns the familiar controls into a comedy challenge.

How it worked in GTA V

In Grand Theft Auto V, PC players typed LIQUOR into the cheat input box. The character then acted drunk, with harder controls and distorted camera effects. The cheat could not be activated during missions. On consoles it was entered with a button combination, and on every platform it could also be triggered with a number on the in-game phone.

It was a light-hearted cheat that showed off how much detail Rockstar put into character animation, even for something as niche as stumbling down a street.

What we know about cheats in GTA 6

There is currently no official information about cheat codes in GTA 6. Rockstar Games has confirmed that the game will be released on Thursday 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but it has not said whether a drunk mode cheat will be included.

The table at the top of this page shows "not yet known" for every platform. We never publish guessed codes. As soon as Rockstar Games releases them, we will add the correct code here.

Why players try drunk mode

Pure comedy

Watching your character stagger, trip and sway is funny, especially in busy places where other people react to you.

A different kind of challenge

Doing something simple, like walking in a straight line or parking a car, becomes a real test when the controls fight against you.

Showing off the animations

Drunk mode highlights the effort that goes into character movement. Small details in how the character catches their balance are easy to miss in normal play.

Tips for a safe (virtual) night out

  • Stay off busy roads. Stumbling into traffic is a quick way to end up in hospital.
  • Avoid driving. Vehicles are much harder to control while the camera sways, and crashes are almost guaranteed.
  • Pick a scenic spot. A beach or a park is a far better setting for drunk mode than a highway.
  • Save first. If things get out of hand, you can always go back to a clean save.

Things to keep in mind

Achievements and trophies

In GTA V any cheat switched off achievements and trophies for the current play session. Restarting or reloading switched them back on.

Story mode only

GTA V cheats could not be used in GTA Online. If GTA 6 has an online mode, we expect cheats to stay in single-player again, but this has not been confirmed.

Not during missions

GTA V did not allow this cheat during missions. Missions need reliable controls, so a GTA 6 version, if there is one, may have similar limits.
