How many buildings can you enter in GTA 6?

Hundreds. During a studio visit by Bloomberg in October 2026, Rockstar's development heads said the state of Leonida has hundreds of interiors you can enter and interact with. Rockstar has not given an exact number, and it has not said that every building can be entered.

According to Rockstar, these interiors are not just decoration: they are places with a purpose in the game, such as gyms, gas stations, banks and shops.

What Rockstar showed

Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier saw a demo at Rockstar North in Edinburgh, presented by Aaron Garbut, Phil Hooker and Rob Nelson. The reports on that demo describe a short free-roam session:

  • A gym visit. Lucia ran on a treadmill and Jason did squats. This ties in with the way GTA 6 tracks fitness, covered in our guide to health, weight and sleep.
  • Scouting a bank. Jason and Lucia walked into a bank to look at the security. Jason judged the guards too risky.
  • Robbing a gas station instead. They broke into the back office of a gas station, Jason switched off the alarm, they took the cash quietly and left without the police noticing.

Money you have to keep safe

The demo also showed a new idea for money. Stolen cash is not automatically safe: you have to deposit it at an ATM before rivals or the police can take it from you. Rockstar's aim is that carrying money comes with real risk.

A deeper map, not just a bigger one

Rockstar has not published the size of the map. Several reports on the demo expect the world to be roughly as big as GTA V's or Red Dead Redemption 2's, with the extra depth coming from interiors rather than more land.
